Teacher Volunteer Dawn Melarvie at Amazing Grace Dedication

  • Are you a Christian Teacher?
  • Ready for an Adventure?
  • Want to Use your Talents to Serve Children in Need?

For the Children's Sake Foundation has been encouraged by the positive feedback from African teachers who have attended our training sessions.  All of them report marked improvement in their student's achievement, classroom atmosphere and their own teaching abilities.

However, one of the realities Dr. Price realized during her follow-up visits to classrooms this summer was a need for observation and feedback directly to the teacher in their own classrooms. Conversations with Dawn Melarvie (teacher volunteer summer ′09) led us to the idea of providing feedback, much like student teaching in the US, but for a much shorter period of time.

In order to provide this important aspect of teacher training, FTCSF is starting a new program to utilize experienced teachers for training sessions in July 2010. Following an orientation, the volunteers will be placed in schools where they will encourage teachers by spending a week in the classroom, observing and providing on-the-spot feedback on implementation of skills gained in teacher training sessions.

We are excited about this important addition to our program, and how it will provide many Christian teachers the opportunity to participate in the vital work of teacher training.

If you or anyone you know would be interested in participating in this opportunity for short-term Christian ministry in Africa, please contact nancy.price@ftcsf.org
