In December of 2006, FTCSF provided one week of intensive training to 66 directors and teachers from 38 Christian schools in the Nairobi, Kenya slum of Kibera.
Subsequently, 38 teachers from 22 Christian schools in Kibera completed the entire three-week training course over 12 months (Dec 2006, May 2007, and November 2007).
All teachers received personal follow-up classroom visits in March of 2007, where the improvements in professionalism, student achievement and teaching methods were noteworthy. An additional follow-up meeting was held with teachers in April 2008.
None of the schools had a copy of the curriculum they were mandated to teach, so FTCSF was able to provide copies of the Kenya National Curriculum syllabus to 15 Kibera Chrisitian schools. Teaching aids and Bibles were also distributed to all participants of the November training session.
